CYO Sports

    • CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) Athletics is an organized sports program that provides parish youth with the opportunity to grow in faith, develop life skills, learn sportsmanship, and build community through competitive and recreational sports.

    • It is rooted in Catholic values — promoting teamwork, respect, and spiritual growth alongside athletic skills.

    • CYO is generally open to children in grades K–8 who are parish members or attend parish schools.

    • Each parish fields teams for different age groups based on participant interest and coach availability.

    • Basketball (boys & girls): Usually grades 3–8

    • Volleyball (girls): Usually grades 3–8

    • Soccer (co-ed younger grades, then separate): Some parishes have this if enough interest

    • Track & Field and Cross Country: Sometimes available through combined local parishes or the area CYO league

    • Cheerleading: Occasionally offered

    • Sports offerings may vary each year depending on the number of kids and volunteer coaches.

    • Fall: Soccer & Volleyball

    • Winter: Basketball

    • Spring: Track & Field

    • Teams rely heavily on volunteer coaches — usually parents or parishioners.

    • All coaches must complete SafeParish (VIRTUS) child protection training and background checks as required by the Archdiocese.
