Religious Education

  • The Religious Education programs of the Mother of God Family of Parishes support the families of all parish children who are enrolled in public schools or who are home schooled.

The Religious Education Program assists parents, as the primary educators of their children, in providing the knowledge, experiences, and skills needed to become faithful and fruitful disciples of Jesus. We enable parents and children to live out their baptismal call to discipleship by providing opportunities for faith formation through prayer and liturgy, moral formation, catechetical instruction, and service.

In collaboration with parents and volunteer catechists, we initiate the child into the Catholic Christian community and into participation in the Church’s mission of working for the Reign of God. Classes meet from September through May.

The Mother of God Family of Parishes School & Religious Education students are welcome to participate in all parish sports through CYO.

  • A special note to parents:

    • 1st graders must be baptized before the age of 7 and attend religious formation in both 1st and 2nd grade in order to make First Communion in 2nd grade.

    • 7th graders must be enrolled and attend religious formation in both 7th and 8th grade to make Confirmation towards the end of their 8th grade year.

If you need help with a baptism or enrolling your child in religious education as part of sacramental preparation, please contact Tara Schumaker.

  • We are always looking for adult classroom catechists, assistants, and substitute catechists. Please contact Tara Schumaker if you feel you have a call to share your faith with our children.

    High School Teen Helpers:

We would love to have several grade 9-12 volunteers to help as aides in grades K-6 on Sunday or Tuesday during religious education class. This is a great way to have fun, share your religion, and earn volunteer hours needed for school!

  • The yearly cost for religious education is $80 to cover books, supplies, and facilities. **Maximum of $240/family. If your family needs financial assistance or a payment plan, please contact our religious education office.
