Religious Education

Religious education at Mother of God Family of Parishes aims to foster a deeper understanding and love of the Catholic faith, particularly for children and youth who attend public schools. It offers programs like Parish School of Religion (PSR) and Family Faith Formation, which involve catechetical instruction, Scripture study, and opportunities for community building.
Religious Education classes are offered to children in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade for those who do not attend Catholic schools. Classes meet on Sundays from September to April between the hours of 9:40 and 10:50 AM. The cost is $80 to cover books, supplies, and facilities. **Maximum of $240/family. If your family needs financial assistance, please contact Tara Schumaker.

A special note to parents:
1st graders must be baptized and attend religious education class in order to make First Communion in 2nd grade.
7th graders must be enrolled and attend religious formation in both 7th and 8th grade to make Confirmation towards the end of their 8th grade year.
If you need help with a baptism or enrolling your child in religious education as part of sacramental preparation, please contact Tara Schumaker.

We would love to have several grade 9-12 volunteers to help as aides in grades K-6 each Sunday during religious education class. Please fill out the form RE Teen Form in order to help. This is a great way to have fun, share your religion, and earn those volunteer hours needed for school!
We are always looking for religious education adult helpers and catechists. Please contact our office if interested.
